The victim of a car-vs-bicycle collision from July 22 has died as a result of his injuries, the Iowa State Patrol confirmed on Wednesday.
Rick Collum, 63, of Fort Dodge, was injured in the early morning hours of July 22 when he was riding his bicycle on the sidewalk along Kenyon Road and collided with a 1991 Chevrolet Caprice in the intersection of Avenue C and Kenyon Road.
The driver of the Caprice, Joseph Johnson, 34, of Fort Dodge, was preparing to turn left onto Kenyon Road from Avenue C when Cullum’s bicycle collided into the side of the vehicle.
Cullum was airlifted to Des Moines with life-threatening injuries. He died on Tuesday, ISP Lt. Mark Miller said.
The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
