Plans to rebuild the Trestle Trail Bridge that goes over Beaver Creek in Johnston are underway.

The bridge, located north of Interstate 80 near Merle Hay Road, collapsed in March after ice jams formed around it.

Adam Fendrick, park planner forPolk County Conservation, said a bid will be put out in November/December and they will open bids in January.

"We've been acting fast and getting funding sources into place to get the bridge up as fast as it can be," Fendrick said.

Construction will begin in spring 2020 with a goal of having the bridge open and accessible in spring 2021.

The cost to replace the collapsed bridge is $1.5 million, Fendrick said.
