An extension of the Le Mars Recreation Trail will be constructed this summer, following action by the Le Mars City Council Tuesday.
Bids for the 2019 Key Avenue Recreation Trail were received by the Iowa DOT, as it will use federal dollars from the Transportation Alternative Program or TAP.
Bids were opened by the DOT on Feb. 19, with eight contractors submitting bids for the project.
The trail will run on the east of Key Avenue from County Road C-38 going north, then cross over to the west side north of the Sadona Hills development. From there, it will connect to the trail at 24th Street.
The city council approved the low bid of $358,237.44 from Howrey Construction, Inc., of Manson.
