With new areas of Sioux Center developing, recreation trail planners are proposing trail additions to connect new areas and add to recreation options. Members of the Sioux Center Trails Council shared their update with the Sioux Center City Council at its regular meeting Thursday, Jan. 24.

Sioux Center Trails Council members Brian Van Engen and Daryl Ten Pas noted its council’s priorities is to add the city’s existing seven miles of recreation trail that connects neighborhoods and amenities throughout Sioux Center.

“Trails continue to rise in importance for people, and that’s a trend we see across the state,” Van Engen said.

The trend is local, too, with respondents for the local 2018 Community Survey ranking recreation trail additions as a top priority for future planning.
