First, thanks go to PeopleForBikes – a national biking advocacy organization that just awarded a$10,000 grant for Wolf Creek Bridge!

This check will add to the progress that Cedar Trails Partnership, Preserve Cedar Valley Nature Trail (P-CVNT) and Black Hawk County Conservation have made lining up the funding needed to replace the failed bridge. A fund drive sponsored by the Trails Partnership and P-CVNT have previously raised over $73,000 in contributions and small grants. County Conservation has obtained 2 large trail grants that equal $746,000 plus a pledge from a local family foundation for $50,000. The engineer’s cost estimated for replacement is $854,400, so if the bids come in anywhere near the estimate, the funding is now in place. Since one of the County Conservation grants is not available until after October, 2019, we are still at least a year away from starting construction.

Because of that delay in starting the project, there is some concern that inflation and the on-going trade battle affecting the price of steel will push up the costs, so fundraising is continuing.

If you would like to help, send a check payable to Cedar Trails Partnership – CVNT, 6510 Hudson Rd, Cedar Falls, IA 50613.

In addition, credit & debit cards and PayPal are accepted at: Cedar Trails Partnership. Click on “Donate to the Cedar Valley Nature Trail Fund.” All contributions are tax-deductible and many thanks to all who have contributed so far!
