The Perry Economic Development Inc. (PEDI) group and the Wiese Foundation of Perry recently presented the Dallas County Conservation Board with a donation toward the Raccoon River Valley Trail (RRVT) to High Trestle Trail (HTT) Connector project.

The $5 million connector project will link two of the premier trail systems in central Iowa. Private donations to the project help leverage other grant funds and further the completion of the nine-mile extension trail.

The PEDI investment group was established to promote economic development around the Perry community. The Wiese Foundation of Perry is a charitable non-profit organization that was established by Lee and Irene Wiese of Perry in order to benefit other charitable non-profits.

In partnership, PEDI received a cumulative $100,000 from the Wiese Foundation of Perry toward the RRVT-HTT Connector project.

“We really appreciate the significant financial support for our trail project from the Perry Economic Development,” said Mike Wallace, director of the Dallas County Conservation Board, which is overseeing constructionof the connector trail. “We look forward to additional support from them and other entities that want to make this important trail project come true. We will build this trail as fast as funding allows.”
