POSTED: 12:18 pm EDT September 29, 2004 UPDATED: 12:35 pm EDT September 29, 2004 WASHINGTON -- A California bicycle manufacturer is recalling about 1,500 bicycles because the handlebars may come loose and turn unexpectedly, causing riders to lose control and fall. Specialized Bicycle Components Inc. has received two reports of the handlebars coming loose, but no reports of any injuries. View Slideshow: Bicycle Recall The recalled handlebars were sold on the 2005 Allez Sport, 2005 Allez Elite, 2005 Roubaix (base model) and 2005 Sequoia (base model) bicycles. The model names are on the frame of the handlebar. Specialized retailers sold the bicycles from July 2004 through August 2004 for between $900 and $1,600. Consumers should stop using the bicycles and return the recalled handlebars to the place of purchase for replacement handlebars. Consumers can call the manufacturer at (800) 432-4144 or visit the company's Web site for more information.
