The rodeo consisted of an obstacle course that had participants recognize signs before being entered into a raffle for a new bicycle.

The event also had Wayne's Ski and Cycle on hand for small bike fixes, and the Mason City Kiwanis Club for donating helmets.

Newman Catholic 7th Grader Olivia Schissel, who's part of the Spin Devo junior cycling team, and says that participants, both new and experienced, are learning quite a bit, and bikers can also take a cue on safety as nicer weather is on the way.

She also has a message for those who are about to start biking for the season.

"It's very important to make sure that your bike is good and...running properly so you don't crash
