A Sidney man was injured in a pickup-bicycle accident in Fremont County Monday afternoon.The
Iowa State Patrol reports 55-year-old Arlene Smith of Hamburg was
headed east on Fillmore Street in Sidney just after 4 p.m. Her pickup
was struck by a mountain bike, operated by 27-year-old Brett Kissel of
Sidney. The patrol report indicates Kissel failed to stop for a stop
sign while heading north on Walnut Street. His bicycle hit Smith's right
front passenger fender and passenger door.
Kissel was flown by LifeNet Air Ambulance to Creighton University
Medical Center in Omaha with undisclosed injuries. Smith was not
injured.The Iowa State Patrol received assistance from the
Fremont County Sheriff's Office, Sidney Fire and Rescue, and LifeNet at
the scene. The investigation continues.

Preliminary
reports indicate a pedestrian was struck by a pickup in Sidney sometime
before 4 p.m. Monday. The injured subject was reportedly flown via
LifeNet helicopter to an Omaha hospital. Further information from the
Fremont County Sheriff's Office is unavailable at this time.
