SIOUX CITY | Residents of Ida County energetically hashed out possible ways to build a new recreational trail to connect Holstein to Ida Grove and perhaps a few other northerly towns.
Doug Clough, an Ida Grove City Council member, said having a new bike trail would bring bicyclists who are looking for new ways to spend time in Iowa, so they would be open to spending money in cafes and at a planned craft brewery in Ida Grove.
"Cyclists like to try things," Clough said.
He was among 35 people taking part in a Friday regional bicycle summit organized by the Siouxland Interstate Metropolitan Planning Council in Sioux City.
The event came a week after the Journal first reported that more money is coming to help connect the two portions of a disconnected Sioux City trail along the Missouri riverfrontby 2017.
