Dubuque Bike Club members will purchase 4 signs alerting drivers to cyclists on the road.

Members of the Dubuque Bicycle Club hope to improve rider safety by installing signs along popular bike routes in Dubuque County.

Ken Buesing, a club board member, said members have seen road signs warning of bicycle traffic in different areas of Iowa and Wisconsin and believe similar signs could be effective locally. "There's value in making the general public aware there's bicycles on this route," he said.

The group recently reached an agreement with Dubuque County supervisors to install diamond-shaped signs on two bike-heavy routes. The club will pay for the signs and county crews will install them in the spring.
