Council Bluffs man killed in car-bicycle hit-and-run

A Council Bluffs man was killed in a car-bicycle crash Tuesday morning.

According to Council Bluffs Police, officers and rescue personnel were dispatched to South 35th Street and 14th Avenue shortly after 6 a.m. regarding an accident between a car and a bicycle. Upon arrival, officials found the bicyclist, 54-year-old David Ryder, dead from the accident. The driver of the vehicle had fled the scene.

Approximately 45 minutes later, the driver -- 28-year-old Stephanie Kenealy -- returned to the scene. Police arrested Kenealy on a charge of leaving the scene of a fatality crash. Further charges are pending in the case. Ryder was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
