The man accused of driving off after striking a bicyclist has a lengthy
criminal record, including child endangerment, OWI, assault and a
driving-while-barred arrest.
After the hit-and-run accident that injured Gregary Wade Franck Sunday morning, a witness saw the license plate on the 2007 Chevy Equinox that hit Franck and two other bikers.
Gregory
Strub, age 41, had pain to his elbow and an injury to his left calf.
Julee Peterson, 40, had pain in her back and road rash on her legs.
The
plate belonged to a vehicle that was registered to a woman who lives at
436 3rd Street in West Des Moines. That's where, about 20 minutes after
the accident, officers found the SUV they believe was involved in the
hit-and-run.
A female who answered the door directed officers to Jonathan Leyva Rodriguez, who was taking a shower.
Rodriguez's
driver's license has been barred since March of last year until March
of 2017. He is required to have an ignition interlock device in his
vehicle.
