A silent auction and hand-built bike show to benefit
Youth Off Road Riders
(YORR), a cycling program through the Neighborhood Centers of Johnson County, will be held Friday, March 7, 2014, 6 to 9 pm at Terry Trueblood Recreation Center.
Attendees are invited to take part in a silent auction of local goods and services from the Iowa City area and tour a display of hand-built bikes from Professor Steve McGuire’s class at the University of Iowa School of Art and Art History. Food and drinks will be provided. The event is free and open to the public.
Youth Off Road Riders Program (part of NCJC youth programs) provides a place for young people to engage in competitive and non-competitive cycling. Youth riders participate in training clinics, trail rides, and compete in mountain bike and cyclocross races across the state.
The funds raised at this event will help offset the costs of the program, including bicycles, helmets, clothing, travel expenses and race entry and licensing fees.
The Terry Trueblood Recreation Area is located at Sand Lake, 4213 SE Sand Road, Iowa City. Take Gilbert Street/Sand Road to intersection with Sycamore. There is plenty of parking for cars or bicycles.
For more information about the youth cycling program, contact Anthony Branch at the Pheasant Ridge Neighborhood Center, 319-354-2886, or email
