A local RAGBRAI committee announced on Thursday the establishment of a grant program for local non-profit organizations.

The success of RAGBRAI's visit to Fairfield has resulted in a profit that the committee wants to give back to the community. While organizers are still finalizing all the expenses from the event, they say they're confident there will be a healthy sum of money to distribute. Any Fairfield non-profit organization may apply for the funds, but priority will be given to those who helped or participated in RAGBRAI in some way. Grant awards range from $250 to $1,000.

Grant application forms can be found at www.travelfairfield.com. They are due September 10, and award recipients will be announced September 21 during Live on the Square. For more information, contact Terry Baker at 641-472-2828.
