Parady Boatwright is the organizer for the second annual Tweed Ride.
Why you should know her: Boatwright normally rides 60-100 miles a
week, though not usually in woven fabric. Last year Boatwright and her
boyfriend founded the Des Moines Tweed Ride after reading about The
Tweed Run, a longtime ride in London.
My favorite tweed item is: A Harris tweed newsboy cap.
_____ is my favorite trail to ride: The Great Western Trail heading to the Cumming Tap.
For a riding playlist I like to listen to: Mylene Farmer, Sade, Swedish House Mafia and Chopin.
If I could go anywhere for dinner tonight, I would pick:
La Grand Monarque. It was a beautiful restaurant near Chartres where my
adoptive parents used to take me for big occasions when I lived in
France. But now it’s a Best Western.
After this, I’d like to see a _____ ride: Seersucker.
When it’s too cold to bike I stay active by: Running at the gym and playing tennis on the Wii.
I don’t ride without: Chapstick.
Other than riding, I keep busy by:
Developing plans on small ideas and wild projects, teaching French and
finding a hiding place at Half Price Books to read for hours.
Something people might not expect about me is:
I grew up on a farm in a hamlet in the French countryside. At age eight
I qualified to go pro for ballet in Paris. I am of Cambodian-Chinese
descent, but don’t speak any Asian languages.
_____ is the celebrity who looks best in tweed: Sean Connery in “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.”
