RDG Introduces a New Central Iowa Icon!

High Trestle Bridge Connecting Woodward and Madrid on the Ankeny to Woodward Trail RDG Planning & Design would like to introduce you to an exciting project that is nearing completion and links Iowa's railroad and coal mining history to its modern day artistic interpretation and recreation. Led by artist David B. Dahlquist, the High Trestle Bridge is a prime example of RDG's integrated design process. With the direction of the Iowa National Heritage Foundation and its nine public partners, the High Trestle Bridge is sure to become a Central Iowa icon and destination for families, hikers and cyclists alike. Towering 13 stories above the Des Moines River Valley, it is one of the largest foot bridges in the world. The one-half mile long bridge spans the banks of the valley and serves as a link to 25 miles of paved High Trestle Trail winding its way through five Iowa communities and four Iowa counties. It is also the much anticipated link to 670 miles of trail systems connecting Des Moines to other areas of Central Iowa. Over the next few weeks we will send out a series of messages that capture the design process in words, photos and video - and we want to share it all with you in preparation for a Grand Celebration on April 30, 2011. Won't you join us for the ride? Visit the RDG High Trestle Bridge website today at
