“Cocktail” David Halter passes away

“Cocktail” David Halter, 52, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Friday December 3rd at approx 12:30 am. David worked at UPS for over 30 years. He was an avid bicycle rider who loved life and loved seeing the world with his wife Sherry by his side. David lived a full and courageous life and he left a lasting impression with all those he met. His presence will be tremendously missed. David is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Sherry; his children, Lyndi (Mike) Heinkel and Adam Halter, both of Des Moines, Nathan (Jennifer) Simon and Trevor (Sarah) Simon, both of Winterset, 6 grandchildren; his parents, Max and Mary Ann Halter of Des Moines; and his siblings Julie (Craig) Graff of Thorn Hill, TN, Steve Halter of Des Moines, Lisa (Luke) Dixon of Dixon, IL and Paul (Amy) Halter of Des Moines. Memorial graveside services will be held at Fairview Cemetery in rural Madison County. There will not be a formal funeral. More details to come. At Dave's request, a "Celebration of Life" bike ride will start at the Waveland Tap on University Avenue in Des Moines, riding to Cumming Tap. More details to come. UPDATED:
