Dear BIKEIOWA Members:
My name is Andrew Awad, and I am inviting you to attend as a special volunteer event on Thursday June 17th. Beginning at 10:00 am and ending at 4:00 pm, Iowa’s DNR AmeriCorps Trails Program and volunteers will be developing an interpretive pedestrian trail and picking up trash at the Riverview Recreation Area in Waterloo Iowa. You may feel free to arrive and leave any time that is convenient for you. Also, if you are interested, the Iowa Trails Summit will be taking place this Friday and Saturday. I’ve included the details below.
As a member of the AmeriCorps Iowa Trail Crew, I wanted to let you know that I will be volunteering Thursday and attending the Trails Summit both of the following days. These three days will serve to promote citizen involvement and encourage the sharing of an area by numerous outdoor recreation groups. These will be fun and informative days, and you will have the opportunity to meet, work alongside, and learn with your fellow Iowans. I would appreciate your attendance very much.
Trails Summit Details:
Friday, June 18th
Informative sessions will be held at the University of Northern Iowa, Lang Hall, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, which require a registration that can be made at: www.iowadot.gov/iowabikes. These will feature expert speakers and focus on planning healthy communities, multi-use and shared trails, diversity and accessibility of trails, and trail planning, development and funding. A BBQ Party at Gateway Park in Cedar Falls will follow at 6:00 pm.
Saturday, June 19th
Outdoor events will be held at the Riverview Recreation Area in Waterloo, Iowa from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The public will be invited to explore a wide range of free trail events and demonstrations, as well as meet and network with individuals from hundreds of trail user groups in Iowa representing motorized, non-motorized, equestrian and water sports.
Thank you for your time, and I hope to see you there.
Sincerely,
Andrew Awad
