June 18-19, 2010 Cedar Falls/Waterloo This conference involves a diverse group of trail organizations representing virtually every trail user group imaginable, including motorized and non-motorized, equestrian and water sports. There will be an emphasis on strategies, policies, and development opportunities vested in unique partnerships that will be effective in creating new trail opportunities. Friday, June 18th - Some of Iowa’s leading experts on trail development and healthy communities are meeting in Cedar Falls to share their ideas on the challenges and opportunities we face in the coming years. There will be four auditorium sessions with expert panelists moderated by leaders in the trails community: Chuck Offenburger, Senator Tom Harkin, Craig Markley (DOT), and Pat Boddy (DNR). Our panelists represent a cross-section of professionals and will each present an innovative and interesting view of issues important to the future of Iowa Trails, as well as participate in question and answer sessions. Friday’s auditorium sessions will be held at the University of Northern Iowa, Lang Hall, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and require a registration. The sessions will have expert speakers and focus on planning healthy communities, multi-use and shared trails, diversity and accessibility, and trail planning development and funding. A BBQ Party at Gateway Park in Cedar Falls on Friday night will be at 6:00 pm. Trail user groups will represent motorized and non-motorized, equestrian and water sports. Saturday, June 19th - There will be a variety of outdoor recreation exhibitions open to the public at Waterloo’s Riverview Recreation Area from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. This will be an exciting day for the public to explore the wide range of trail recreation opportunities available. Families and children are welcome.
