Many of you who know Papa T or other members of Team Brewhaha are aware of the loss of one of our members,
Yoda, last year in a tragic winter auto accident. In
February 2007 an accident took the life of eight-year-old
Zachary “Yoda” Taylor and the lives of his Aunt, Brandy
Taylor, and his cousin, Nikki Taylor. Zach loved Ragbrai
and embodied the spirit of this event. His team nickname
was "Yoda" because he was small yet wise for his years.
Zach’s family and friends are creating a memorial project
to honor the memory of this bright and energetic young man
whose life and faith brought joy to so many others. The
Zach Taylor Memorial Playground Project will construct a
sizeable playground in Yoda’s hometown of Antioch,
Illinois.
The funding goal is $35,000 (this stuff cost way more than
I would have thought) and we have already raised over
$20,000. Construction will begin when we reach the goal.
I invite my friends and friends of Team Brewhaha to
consider a contribution to the playground by sending gifts
to:
The Zach Taylor Memorial Fund
24300 W Grass Lake Road
Antioch IL 60002
On THE RIDE team Brewhaha members will have bracelets
with "Ride for Yoda" debossed on it. We are hoping to get
donations for them from our Ragbrai friends. Team
Brewhaha is working hard to honor the memory of this very
special young rider. Ask any Team Brewhaha Member about
Operation Yoda.
