"To all recreational trails supporters:
I hope you can help with a matter of importance to trails development in the region.
The Yes to Destiny Campaign is dedicated to improving the quality of life in Central Iowa and recreational trails are an integral part of that.
- In national surveys, young professionals in their 20’s and 30’s rank trails as their #1 amenity considered when choosing where to live and work.
- Iowa ranks 48th nationally for public funding towards recreation.
- Currently, the Iowa DOT spends about $2 million per year on trails – for the entire state. If Destiny is successful it would mean over $6 million per year for trails just in Polk, Warren, and Dallas Counties!
We need over 10,000 petition signatures in order to get this proposal on the ballot and the deadline to do this is March 27th.
We know that the local trails community is a great network with which to do this – and we need their support! Please take a minute to go to the Yes to Destiny website at www.yestodestiny.org. There you will find links to download and print petitions for Polk, Warren, and Dallas Counties as well as a Petition Frequently Asked Questions and tip sheet. Take a couple petitions to your office, civic, professional or church group and help us meet our goal by getting 50 signatures over the next two weeks.
If you have more friends that would like to help, or have any questions, please contact Nathan Treloar at 515-418-0994, ntreloar@yestodestiny.org.
Please forward to those who may be interested and thanks for the help."
