Christy Creme will again be the starting point for One Lap of the Bluffs, a bicycle ride through and around the city.
Bicyclists will meet at Christy Crème, 2853 N. Broadway, on Sunday, Oct. 8, for the procession to be led by Mayor Tom Hanafan starting at 8 a.m.
The group will travel north to Mynster Springs Road and over the hill to Big Lake Park where the city's bike trails start crossing the city.
The Big Lake, Riverfront, Trails Center, Manawa, Iowa West Trailhead Park, Iowa School for the Deaf and Valley View trails connect to Iowa Western Community College. Bikers will cross the campus, follow Kanesville Boulevard west, turn right on McKenzie Avenue, peddle up to Simms Avenue, and then down Spencer Avenue to Christy Creme.
The 27-mile ride is expected to last about two hours. An entry fee of $35 will cover the cost of a commemorative T-shirt and lunch at Christy Crème after the ride.
Proceeds from the registration fees will be contributed to Back to the River Inc., the organization that is collecting funds for the pedestrian bridge across the Missouri River that will connect area bike trails.
For more information on One Lap of the Bluffs, contact Dave Christiansen at 322-2778. Entry/waiver forms are available at Christy Creme, local bike shops and on the Christy Creme Web site at www.christycreme.com.
Participants are asked to return the completed forms by Sept. 15.
