This in from D.J. Rausa, a long time RAGBRAI friend and one of the Boston Boys. Deej now lives in California and still bikes for good causes!
Team in Training - Fighting Blood Related Cancers
To my family and friends and colleagues, As all of you very well know, anything I put my mind to typically results in accomplishing that goal. So too, it will be with this one. I have begun training to ride a bicycle in the Le Tour de Tucson in November of 2006. This is a century bike ride, 109 miles, and I am going to do this on a tandem with my wife Karen. Both of us are dedicated to use this opportunity not only to get in shape and rehab after her foot surgery, but more importantly, to raise much needed research funds to find a cure for blood related cancers. Anyone who has ever ridden a bicycle know how uncomfortable it can be after just 3 miles, let alone over one hundred, however, over the next four months our training will begin and it will become a daily routine. However, that routine will pale in comparison to those children, men and women who suffer from leukemia and other blood related cancers and the daily treatments they must endure. I humbly ask for your support in making a difference in others lives by making a donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and help me achieve my goal raising $5,000.00 for this worthy cause. I will do all the leg work, no pun intended! All you have to do is take a few minutes of your time and make a donation. You can make your tax deductible donation online at my website, or by mailing a check to my address, made payable to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Address: D.J. Rausa 2515 Camino del Rio South, Ste. 350 San Diego, CA 92108 My website: http://www.active.com/donate/tntsdh/tntsdhDRausa Please feel free to share this information with anyone you know who would like to join the fight and find a cure. Thank you again and with much appreciation, D.J.
