After experiencing a success with scooters last year, 7-Eleven, Inc. is ready to jump on and ride another two-
wheeled trend. The nation's leading convenience retailer is introducing Huffy(R) Micro(TM) Monkey Bikes in participating stores this week.
Retailing for a suggestive retail price of only $69.99 at participating 7-Eleven(R) stores, the tiny two-wheeler features 6-inch nylon wheels, hand brake, quick-adjust seat height, padded handlebars and plastic chain guard. Other mini bikes retail from $79 up to $109 at other retail locations and department stores, making the Micro Monkey Bike a great value for 7-Eleven customers. The Micro Monkey Bike is available in red or blue and its steel-frame can support up to a 200-pound weight limit.
"This is a 'get 'em while they're hot' item for us," said Jeff Hamill, vice president, Merchandising for 7-Eleven, Inc. "With a limited supply, once they're gone, they're gone. We think this product will roll out of the stores just as quickly as scooters did."
With a national network of approximately 5,200 stores and supporting distribution centers, 7-Eleven can bring a new item to market quickly. "Lots of companies approach us with new ideas," Hamill said. "The trick is to identify trend items early enough to ride their wave of popularity." The Huffy Micro Monkey Bike is recommended for ages 8 and up. As with all bicycles, a helmet and safety gear should be worn while riding, and small children require adult supervision.
