FORC (Friends of Off-Road Cycling) is hosting the 16
th Sylvan Island Stampede on April 5. The island is at First Avenue and Second Street in Moline. Riders can expect closely spaced, tight and twisty island mountain bike trails during the race. Rocks and roots will be along the trail, as well as concrete rubble, bricks, old building foundations and slag debris throughout the Sylvan Island trails, to represent the island’s industrial history. The race opens the mountain bike race season in Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin.
All proceeds from the race will be used by FORC to buy materials and tools to maintain and improve the nine local off-road bike trails in the Quad Cities area. Spectators are invited to watch the races.
