The Des Moines Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa, aka RAGBRAI, will start in Orange City on Sunday, July 20. Thousands of bicyclists will start a cross-state journey in N’West Iowa, and we look forward to their arrival.
RAGBRAI is the largest bike tour in the world. It has grown remarkably from the modest ride taken by a few friends from Des Moines in 1973 and now draws bicyclists from across the country and world.
They come together to ride, to swap stories, to get sun and fresh air, to share a meal or a drink or three. Mostly, they want to pedal at their own pace and enjoy the Hawkeye State.
