The annual Bike Ride to Rippey will roll on for its 48th year on Saturday.
Last year’s ride saw more than 1,000 registered riders and supporters, which was nearly a 10-year high. Around 1,500 were counted on the road before 1 p.m.
“As the original winter ride, we have a great tradition,” said Perry Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lynsi Pasutti. “There are plenty of other options, especially in the Des Moines area, but we still have a great number of people coming out and supporting (the BRR ride).”
Around 460 riders had pre-registered as of Monday, with more expected to register in the next few days as well as day-of thanks to a reasonable forecast.
“48 years, it’s an honor to be a part of something that is such a great tradition for so many,” Pasutti said.

This year’s ride will pay tribute to one of BRR’s co-founders.
Jim Hurley will take the microphone before the 10 a.m. group start to honor his father, Dennis Hurley, who passed away in April at age 86 and helped found the ride
