BIKEIOWA has tracked cyclists who have been injured or killed on Iowa's roadways for 20+ years.
Bicycle safety in Iowa remains a critical concern, with ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, education, and awareness, yet challenges persist as cyclists continue to get hit or killed on our roadways. Distracted driving continues to be the #1 factor.
We just updated the Ride of Silence's page with everyone that we posted News items for this year. 45 cyclists were added to the list this year. That is a LOT!
Please take a look to make sure we didn't miss anyone.
You can filter/search on Year, Status, name and/or town.
Starting in 2025, we will track "Special Mentions" on this page too. "Special Mentions" are someone who has passed away, but not from a bike/car collision. Natural death would be one example. "Special Mentions" are well-known cyclists in our communities who made our lives better.
