Clayton County Conservation Board recently received $325,000 in state funding for the development and maintenance of recreational trails.
The funding, which will be used for the first phase of an extension project on Pony Hollow Trail, was awarded by the Iowa Transportation Commission through the State Recreational Trails Program, according to an online announcement.
The Clayton County project was one of nine projects statewide to recently receive state funding through the program. The funds are available for cities, counties, state agencies, local governments and nonprofits and are intended to help develop and maintain "recreational trails and trail-related facilities."
