The city of Marshalltown’s largest public park is set to undergo a major facelift in the months to come, and a local contractor will be performing the work.
During Monday night’s meeting, the city council voted unanimously to award the contract in the amount of $1,336,029 to Con-Struct Inc., which has offices in Marshalltown and Ames. Parks and Recreation Director Geoff Hubbard was happy to report that the bids came in under the engineer’s estimate. After briefly explaining the funding sources for the project, he reminded the council of the change that meant the lagoon won’t require nearly as much work as originally expected, and as a result, they’ll be able to add more amenities like pickleball courts.
