just got better with the completion of a 9-mile extension linking Woodward, the trail's former western terminus, to Perry, where it joins up with the 72.5-mile loop at the heart of the Raccoon River Valley Trail. Riding in either direction is fine, but we'll start this description from the more populous eastern end: Ankeny.
