More than 200 student riders participated in the season-opening Nebraska Interscholastic Cycling League (NICL) Race held at Cone Park.
NICL, a youth development organization, was founded in 2019 with the goal of offering kids the opportunity to be active and part of a team.
The bicycle race at Cone Park was the first time the organization had held an event in Sioux City. Director Bree Campbell said the organization was very happy to have picked the location.
“We ride all of the trails, we look at all of the features that it has for what we were looking for,” Cambell said. “This course works for us, this place is awesome. From the support that we have received from the community and from the City of Sioux City, so we’re really excited to be here and this is a really great venue for us.”
