An Arkansas man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run that claimed the life of a Council Bluffs cyclist participating in Tour de Nebraska over the weekend.
The Cherry County Attorney said Adam Earl Joe Cooper, 35, was arrested after they found 82-year-old Larry Lynn Covalciuc laying on the north shoulder of Highway 20, west of Valentine, on Saturday morning.
Covalciuc was a participant in Tour de Nebraska, a 5-day, 350-mile bike ride across Nebraska.
Cooper is charged with motor vehicle homicide and leaving the scene of an accident, both of which are felonies.
Grant, Hooker, Arthur and Cherry County Sheriff’s Offices, along with the Nebraska State Patrol, assisted in the crash response and investigation.
