The Iowa Bicycle Coalition is hosting a fundraiser to support 80/35 BMX in its efforts to bring a year-round, all-weather, Olympic-level indoor BMX racetrack and off-road cycling facility to the Greater Des Moines area.
Skate DSM, a nonprofit supporting Des Moines’ skateboarding community, is a partner in the effort, a news release said.The goal for the fundraising campaign is to raise $47,000 for a comprehensive feasibility study. Organizers have raised over $20,000 toward that goal, according to a press release.
The fundraiser will run from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at xBk Live in Des Moines with a program starting at 6:15 p.m. Food and live music fromJoshua Sinclair andThe Sheetwill be featured at the event as well as guest speakers, who will share the progress of the BMX Skills Hub project, which is now named the
Community Action Sports Complex.
