The Iowa River’s Edge Trail committee received notice that a $2,000,000 grant application through the Iowa DOT’s TAP (Statewide Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside Program) has been approved. The funding will be used for surfacing the trail 5.7 miles from Eldora to Gifford, including the South Fork Bridge replacement.
TAP grants fund smaller-scale transportation projects such as pedestrian and bicycle facilities, recreational trails, safe routes to school projects, and community improvements such as historic preservation, vegetation management, and some environmental mitigation related to storm water and habitat connectivity.
