A drunken driver has been sentenced to prison for killing a bicyclist in 2019.

L.A. Jefferson Jr., 46 – who had attempted to take back pleas to homicide by vehicle, second-offense operating while intoxicated and leaving the scene – was unapologetic as he was sentenced to up to 14 years behind bars Monday.

Jefferson claimed the bicycle hit his car while he was driving to work, and he claimed the cyclist, 22-year-old Dilail Salkic of Waterloo, was on meth and died of strangulation.

“The facts are not supported here. … Speed was not a factor. This was not a high-speed collision. … In my profession – and I do call mixology a profession, I studied to bartend – and to know the signs of intoxication,” Jefferson said.

He also read from a long religious statement.
