For a record-tying eighth time, Glenwood is the starting point for RAGBRAI this summer.
Officials with the Des Moines Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa announced its southern Iowa route for its 51st annual ride. Glenwood is serving at its starting point on Saturday, July 20th, for the RAGBRAI Expo before riders embark on Sunday, July 21st. Jennie Davis is the Mills County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director. Davis tells KMA News that they are excited to be able to host thousands of bicycle enthusiasts, adding her motivation for applying for the opportunity was two-fold.
"One is for our small businesses and organizations that the economy has not been very friendly to the last couple of years, so I'm hoping for an economic impact for those people, and also to showcase our community," said Davis. "Glenwood has changed quite a bit since 2016 and we're just really excited to welcome everybody and show them what we've got going on here in Glenwood."
