RAGBRAI has named Knoxville as one of eight stops along Southern Iowa as part of this year’s big bicycling event.

Thousands of cyclists will descend on the Marion County city on July 24, coming in from Winterset and staying there for the night before moving on to Ottumwa.

This is the 51st RAGBRAI event, which takes place over the course of eight days. At 434 miles, it’s the shortest route in the event’s history, but also that steepest at 18,741 feet of climb. The full complete route will be announced in April. Organizers expect upwards of 18,000 registered participants to take part in RAGBRAI, either for the entire week or one or more days.

The moving festival, which will include music, food and beverage with cardio, will start on July 20 in Glenwood, before concluding on July 27 in Burlington.
