It's a food drive on a bicycle. That's the simplest way to describe Cranksgiving in the Cedar Valley.
Organizers put it on every year to provide food to needy families for Thanksgiving by contacting their local food bank.
Built as part bike ride, part food drive, and part scavenger hunt. Organizers were given a map of local businesses to bike to and pick up a list of food items.
Cyclists were able to stop at SingleSpeed Brewery in Cedar Falls, Fareway, Walgreens, George's Local, Mulligan's, Hansen's Dairy, Hy-Vee, and College Hill.
BikeTech helps put on Cranksgiving each year. Owner Brent Johnson says it's a good way for cyclists to combine two things they're passionate about. Riding their bikes and helping out others.
