The City of Cedar Rapids is celebrating the completion of 100 miles of trails and bikeways in the city with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and commemorative bike ride.
The event will be held on October 19, beginning at 3:30 p.m. with a bike ride from Cherry Hill Park to Cherokee Park and back.
At 4 p.m., directly after the bike ride, there will be a brief presentation from the City, Linn County Trails Association, and the Corridor Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), followed by a ribbon cutting at Sharon Lane NW Trailhead.
The 100 miles of trails include nearly 47 miles of off-street paths and about 50 miles of on-street bikeways throughout the City, including the Cedar Valley Nature Trail, which is part of the American Discovery Trail and Great American Rail Trail.
