Everyone is welcome at Coon Rapids on Sept 13th to help Central Iowa Trails Association's 10th Anniversary Party; 'Ales and Trails'

WHEN: Saturday, September 13, 2008 Whiterock Conservancy Coon Rapids, Iowa WHAT: Fun for everyone; bring your family and friends! We'll enjoy 30 miles of dirt trail and everything else Whiterock has to offer (canoeing, fishing ponds, volleyball, etc.) and bring some fun of our own. MAKING OUR OWN FUN
  1. Group rides/hikes/floats, including an excellent night ride
  2. Live music in a legendary barn
  3. Local beer contest (free samples; you're the judge!)
  4. Lunch and dinner provided by CITA's expert chefs
  5. Iowa/Iowa State on TV; you won't miss "the game"!
MORE EVENT DETAILS WHERE: Whiterock Conservancy is about an hour west of Des Moines... Take the Highway 141 Exit off of Interstate 35/80 on the northwest corner of Des Moines, towards Perry. Stay on Highway 141 through Perry, Bagley, and Bayard. The Garst Farm Lodge is 6 1/2 miles west of Bayard, just west of the Raccoon River bridge . For the hardcore, bicycling to Whiterock from Des Moines is fairly easy using the Raccoon River Valley Trail and some backroads. LODGING: Whiterock offers everything from B&B pampering to primitive campsites. Have a look at the options and plan to stay for the weekend.   • 11:30 a.m. Lunch (served through 1 p.m.)
  • 1:00 p.m. Afternoon adventures... - Explore the valley with ecologist Elizabeth Hill or - Join a group mountain bike ride or - Paddle the Middle Raccoon River or - Enjoy other resort activities on your own
  • 5:30 p.m. Discussion: Whiterock's mission, programs and future
  • 6:00 p.m. Dinner (served through 7 p.m.)
  • 7:00 p.m. Brother Trucker performs at River House (until 9 p.m.)
  • 8:00 p.m. Beer contest winners announced
  • 9:30 p.m. Mountain bike ride (lights highly recommended!) REGISTRATION: Registration includes lunch, dinner and CITA's 10th anniversary party, plus access to all that Whiterock has to offer.
