What can we as cyclists do to help people with diabetes? The answer is raise money to fund research.

We are raising money in Iowa with the 'Walk to Cure Diabetes', and now the 'Ride to Cure Diabetes'. From October 23 through 26 2003 I'll be leading a team of more than 20 riders from Iowa on a bike-riding adventure in Death Valley, California. Throughout the summer and fall we'll raise money for diabetes research, train with a coach, and get together for social activities.
Interested in participating?? We'd love to have you join our team! Check out the site and find out how http://www.jdrfia.org/jdrfride.htm
Then we'll enjoy an all-expenses-paid trip to Death Valley. We'll spend the first night in Las Vegas and the next two at a resort in Death Valley. We'll fly in and out of Des Moines and our bikes will be carefully packed and transported by a moving truck. Once we arrive we'll celebrate and enjoy the company of hundreds of other riders from around the U.S. who have gathered for the same reason. The first night in Vegas will be a welcome reception. The next morning we'll board busses and travel to Death Valley. Later that afternoon we'll do a short training ride, then a pre-ride dinner. We'll wake early the day of the ride and have a choice of a fully-supported ride of 32, 65, or 105 miles. The evening after the ride will be a banquet and celebration. The next day, Sunday, we'll fly home to Des Moines. Diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases in the United States and does terrible things to a person's body (which Iintentionally omitted). Help me fund the research while at the same time doing something we love, riding our bikes. Call or E-mail me for more information about the ride.
