Q: When riding in cold weather (40 degrees and below), the display on my computer becomes invisible. It functions fine otherwise, so I assume the battery is OK. I just can't read the display until it warms up. Do you have any ideas?

A: The battery is probably dying. Just as a car battery, the computer cells can fail in the cold and cause certain malfunctions. Here's a trick: To replace a battern without loosing data, place the computer in the freezer for 4 hours, which will slow the current. Then take it out and put in the new battery. Jim Langley
