Barn Town Brewing - A Local Grain To Glass Brewpub

Please welcome Barn Town Brewing as BIKEIOWA's newest PREMIER sponsor

VIBE

Barn Town was built on one word - Passion.

Step into BTB and it feels like a rustic barn. Plenty of recycled wood, tin, Iowa Flags and art adorn the walls. But the first thing you notice is the 1955 Baby-Blue Ford F-150 that sets right behind the bar tappers. Pete Faber, BTB owner, says "that was the working man's truck". Pete drives another 1955 Ford pick-up as his daily driver.

The second iconic piece of BTG is the mammoth beer can mural of Iowa made with 1,500+ nostalgic beer cans with the letters "BTB" in the center. Be sure to walk back and check out the unique cans. Pete, his wife and head brewer made it themselves.

At 5,500 feet, there is plenty of space for community hall-like dining. There are also smaller tables and booths around the perimeter and plenty of seating at the bar. TVs are placed well to snatch a glance at the game too.

Patio? - uh-huh, it's on the East side of the Brewery. The best side for a Happy Hour.

Bike parking? - Yep, there is one rack for now with plenty of places to lock up around/in the patio area. They will add more racks as needed.

Shuffleboard? - yeah - it's in the back underneath the beer mural

FROM SCRATCH COOKING

Everything on our menu is made-from-scratch using quality, locally sources ingredients whenever possible. Because it is made to order, it may take a little more time, but it's worth the wait. Check out the FOOD and LUNCH MENU. Look for BIKEIOWA Review coming soon!

BEER

IPAs, Ales, Ciders, Stouts, Porters, Sours and more are what's on tap from the side of the F150. The beer is good and Pete and crew want to change up the beer offerings often. Look for something new to experience each time you visit. BTB also offers a few guest beers. Check out the BEERS , SPECIALS and HAPPY HOURS. Crowlers are offered and you can bring in your own growlers for refills too.

PETE FABER - THE PASSIONATE ONE

Founder Pete Faber was born and raised right here in Des Moines. After college, he ventured into the hospitality business in Chicago. During his 16 years in Chicago, Pete's passion for craft beer and his state of Iowa grew more and more. After contemplating for several years, he decided to move back home to build something that "would make his home town proud of having." Thus spawned Barn Town Brewing. #IowaProud

Pete welcomes any feedback you have to make his brewery more bicycle-friendly.

BTB MISSION

Our mission is to provide a unique experience through homemade, full-flavored, artisanal ales and chef-inspired elevated American style pub fare. BTB is committed to the use of high quality ingredients, with the access to healthy foods from Iowa farms, and the transparency in ingredient sourcing and use. Barn Town’s value proposition relies on the freshness, quality, and origin of the food and drink.

411 - Where are they at?

Barn Town Brewing is located on University Ave. Even though their address is West Des Moines, they are more "In Waukee" with being just East of the Waukee High School.

BTB is 1.4 miles from the Raccoon River Valley Trail, but we recommend a 2 mile route that takes all trail. We suspect SE Boone Dr. will connect the trail and side paths soon that will eliminate an extra 1/2 mile.
