Races will begin at 10 a.m. with the masters category racers and conclude at 2:30 p.m. with junior racers on both Saturday and Sunday.
This year will be the sixth consecutive year for the race and the second year that the event will span two days. The race has grown from a single day event with only 30 riders to an event that includes over 100 racers.
New this year is the addition of
Peace Tree Brewery Co. of Knoxville as a presenting sponsor for the race.
Race director Jacob Oyen sees this as a draw for racers from across the state.
“We are excited to have Peace Tree as a presenting sponsor this year. Their support will bring new racers from across the state to Marion county.”
Cyclocross is a unique discipline of bicycle racing that requires riders to traverse a short course featuring a variety of terrain including pavement, grass, steep hills and obstacles. In some instances racers will have to dismount and run a short distance with their bicycles. Races last between 30 minutes and an hour depending on the category and age level of racers.
