This is the 3rd year for the Summerset Shootout and each year the trails keep getting better and better! Come race this weekend!
On Saturday, Sept. 21st, 2013
the Iowa Mountain Bike
Championship Series pulls into Banner State Park for the
third running of the
Summerset Shootout. Back in the 1930's, the state park was
home to one of Iowa's
largest strip mines. Over the past five years, the Central
Iowa Trails
Association in cooperation with the Iowa DNR has transformed
the abandoned strip
mine into over five miles of narrow tread, tight and twisty
single track. On
race day, the expert category will toe the line for the hole
shot promptly at high noon followed by the comp, category 2
and single speed classes. The beginner races kick off
earlier in the morning.
Important Details All Category 1 racers must present an annual USA cycling license at registration
on race day. The single day USA Cycling racing license will be waived for all other race categories.
Classes may be combined and races by be shortened if conditions warrant.
Fat Tire TT - tires need to be 3.6" or wider, race day registration only.
Registration
Online registration is available until 12PM Sept.
19'th. On site registration opens at 9:30AM and closes 30 minutes prior to each
race.

The course This map is for the category
1 and 2 race; the beginners will run a shortened modified version of
this course. For those of you
who know the trails at banner, the first mile is the
opening pavement section, mile 2 is all single track, mile 3 contains
the pavement transfer to riverside,
mile 4 is all single track, and mile 5 is the pavement
transfer to the start finish.
