On Saturday, Sept 21, 2013 the
Iowa Mountain Bike Championship Series pulls into Banner State Park for the
third running of the Summerset Shootout. Back in the 1930's, the state park was
home to one of Iowa's largest strip mines. Over the past five years, the
Central Iowa Trails Association in cooperation with the Iowa DNR has
transformed the abandoned strip mine into over five miles of narrow tread,
tight and twisty single track.
All
Category 1 racers must present an annual USA cycling license at registration on
race day. The single day USA Cycling racing license will be waived for all
other race categories.
Besides
the normal IMBCS series classes a Fat Tire class will be added; sign up day of
race (no pre-registration). Fat tire width must be 3.6 inches or greater.
Classes
may be combined and races by be shortened if conditions warrant.
