Please Welcome the The Nite Hawk Bar and Grill as BIKEIOWA's newest Sponsor. If you've ridden the High Trestle Trail this year, you've most certainly saw the "Nite Hawk
" as you passed through Slater. Located at
105 Greene Street (under the Water Tower), it is literally within feet of the
High Trestle Trail and a few blocks away from the
Heart of Iowa Nature Trail.
The Nite Hawk Bar and Grill opened it's doors in March of
2012. Formerly the Slater City Hall, the Nite Hawk has undergone
months of renovation, and in their first year of business, they've quickly become the #1 bicycle hang-out in
Slater.
The city of Slater is no slouche to becoming a "bicycle hub" It is not only resides on the popular High Trestle Trail, it connects with
Ames via the bicycle lanes on highway R38 and the limestone Heart of Iowa Nature Trail that will take you East of town to
Huxley,
Cambridge,
Maxwell and
Collins. Slater certainly sees it's fair share of bicycle traffic.
Whether the Nite Hawk is your destination, or a rest stop on your way to Madrid or Ankeny, It's a great place to hang outside, drink a few beers, get some food and watch fellow cyclists on the trail.
