Pella, IA RACE DATE: Oct 1st 10am - 3pm Wooden Shoes are up for grabs at the Dirty Wooden Shoe cross race October 1. There is a NEW LOCATION this year at the South Overlook recreation area with a challenging course. Be sure to check the map (link to map) for directions and keep in mind that the Lake Red Rock Dam is closed for construction so plan ahead. Registration opens at 9 a.m. with the first race starting at 10 a.m. An extra bonus this year is the introduction of the Horn's Ferry Hot Lap sponsored by Horn's Ferry Hideaway. The format is simple, riders go off every 30 seconds for an all-out race against the clock. $5 gets you a spot on the line. Fastest time is taking home a two night stay at Horn's Ferry Hideaway (http://www.hornsferryhideaway.com/). Don't forget! 1) The Dam is closed which affects anyone coming from the north on 163 to Pella. Also, main street north of Pella, is also closed but there is a detour, see the Google Map for details: 2) Horn's Ferry Hot laps!!! $5 gets a spot on the line and a chance for a two night stay at Horn's Ferry Hideaway. Keep in mind the pros will be tired so we should have a level playing field. 3) Second race is only $5. 4) We will still have the Dutch Letters.
